Calipari Bolsters Arkansas Roster with Russian Center Ilia Frolov

The addition of size, skill, and a new strength program aims to propel the Razorbacks toward a championship run.

John Calipari has added a towering presence to the Arkansas Razorbacks roster, bringing in Russian center Ilia Frolov to shore up the team's size and interior depth.

A Strategic Reinforcement

Frolov, who spent the last season with Real Madrid's U22 side, averaged 13.5 points, 7.4 rebounds and 1.1 steals per game while shooting 53 % from the field, 36 % from three‑point range and 84.6 % from the free‑throw line.

Alongside him, Calipari has also secured forwards Cooper Bowser, Mikka Muurinen and guard Paulo Semedo, creating a versatile group that can stretch the floor and protect the paint.

The staff will be overseen by new head strength and conditioning coach Marcus Edwards, whose program is designed to add physicality and durability to players who, like Frolov, still need development before competing in the SEC.

With a No. 1 recruiting class for the 2026‑2027 cycle and a coaching philosophy that blends skill development with strength training, the Razorbacks hope Frolov's scoring ability and the added depth will translate into a legitimate national championship contender.
