Mohamed Darboh, a standout defensive end from Des Moines Lincoln High School, has officially pledged to the University of Northern Iowa, choosing the Panthers over a handful of other suitors.
A Family Legacy in Football
His older brother, Amara Darboh, carved out a notable NFL career after a celebrated stint at the University of Michigan, where he was recognized as the top prospect in Iowa high school football before being drafted by the Seattle Seahawks in 2017.
The Darboh brothers share a competitive drive that has been evident since their teenage years, with Mohamed posting 69 tackles, 19 tackles for loss and 12.5 sacks during his junior season.
The commitment adds depth to a Panthers roster that will retain several key contributors into the 2026 campaign. Mohamed will join a group of returning players who together aim to rebuild the program’s defensive identity.
Coaches have highlighted his pass‑rushing ability and sideline‑to‑sideline hustle as qualities that could accelerate his impact at the collegiate level.
Recruitment officials noted that Mohamed also received offers from Northwest Missouri State, Upper Iowa, Bemidji State, St. Thomas, Drake and Grand View before narrowing his focus to UNI. A recent visit to Cedar Falls allowed him to experience the campus atmosphere and meet the coaching staff in person.
The visit underscored the growing connection between Iowa’s high school talent and the university’s football program.
As the 2026 season approaches, expectations are high for the Lincoln alumnus to make an immediate splash. The Panthers’ defensive line hopes to capitalize on his size, speed and pass‑rush technique, potentially positioning the team for a stronger finish in the Missouri Valley Conference.
The commitment not only reinforces the Darboh family’s football narrative but also signals UNI’s continued ability to attract top Iowa prospects.
