The Tallahassee Democrat has released its 2026 All-Big Bend Baseball Team, a showcase of the region’s top talent and the coaches who guided them.
Celebrating Excellence on the Diamond
Saunder Dinkelman of Chiles High School was crowned Player of the Year after posting a .412 batting average and launching seven home runs, numbers that helped him lead the area in both power and defensive reliability.
Noah Chavez, also a Chiles product, earned Pitcher of the Year honors with a 0.87 earned-run average and 90 strikeouts, finishing the season 8-1 and dominating opposing lineups.
Mike Gauger of Lincoln High School was selected Coach of the Year after steering his squad through a rugged schedule marked by injuries, ultimately guiding them to a state championship that capped a remarkable turnaround.
The All-Big Bend selections also recognized a host of other standouts, with first-team and second-team members from schools such as Maclay, Leon, and Godby delivering statistics that underscored the depth of competition across the peninsula.
Beyond individual accolades, the team’s narrative reflects a season of resilience, as squads from across the Big Bend region combined grit with skill, producing a slate of games that will be remembered for its competitive fire.
