Matt Noone enters his 24th season as head coach of Babson College’s baseball program, a tenure that has reshaped the program’s identity and set a benchmark for New England baseball. Under his guidance the Beavers have amassed more than 500 career wins, captured eight postseason appearances, and earned a reputation for sustained excellence.
A Milestone Season in 2024‑25
The 2024‑25 campaign marked a historic milestone as the Beavers secured their fifth NEWMAC Championship and earned a berth in the NCAA Division III tournament. The team posted a school‑record 39 wins, highlighted by a sweep of Cortland in a best‑of‑three super‑regional series and a victory over Trinity to claim the Hartford Regional.
Noone’s coaching journey began with a 12‑year stint as pitching coach at Northeastern University, where his staff was repeatedly recognized as one of the finest in New England. He also spent time in the Cape Cod League, coaching the Bourne Braves and the Hyannis Mets, further sharpening his developmental approach.
Before college, Noone distinguished himself at Princeton University, earning four letters as a pitcher and outfielder, captaining the team, and receiving two First‑Team All‑Ivy honors. He later earned a master’s degree in education from Boston College, blending academic rigor with athletic leadership.
A native of Needham, Massachusetts, Noone now lives with his family in the same town where he taught history at St. Sebastian’s School. His roots in the community underscore a career that intertwines education, mentorship, and competitive baseball.
