Sage Baptiste, a native of Wareham, Massachusetts, has officially committed to join the Northeastern Huskies men’s basketball program at the Division I level.
His path to the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) has been marked by a series of strategic moves and standout performances that have drawn attention from coaches and analysts alike.
From Bishop Stang to Tabor Academy
Baptiste began his high school career at Bishop Stang, where as a sophomore he posted averages of 19 points and 16 rebounds per game, earning Catholic Central League All‑Star honors and guiding his team to the Division 3 playoffs.
Seeking a higher level of competition, he transferred to Tabor Academy, a move that allowed him to reclassify as a sophomore and ultimately surpass 1,000 career points as a junior.
At Tabor, his perimeter shooting and athleticism flourished, leading to All‑Independent School League (ISL) and All‑NEPSAC recognitions and a run to the NEPSAC semifinals, the deepest the program has reached since 2017.
A Calculated Choice
When asked about his decision, Baptiste highlighted the coaching staff’s vision and the prospect of competing in the CAA as decisive factors.
He also expressed enthusiasm for the university environment, noting that the blend of academic opportunity and athletic conference play aligned with his long‑term goals.
The commitment marks the culmination of a journey that began on the local courts of Wareham and has now positioned him to contribute to Northeastern’s resurgence in collegiate basketball.
Baptiste joins a growing list of regional talents opting for Northeastern, a program that has been steadily building its reputation in the CAA.
Coaches at Northeastern have voiced confidence that his work ethic and versatility will add depth to the roster, potentially influencing the team’s performance in upcoming seasons.
