The Tennessean has released its highly anticipated Top 20 rankings for the upcoming 2026 high school football season, evaluating athletes from the Nashville area based on 2025 statistics, strength of schedule and emerging recruiting interest. The list spotlights the region’s most promising talents, many of whom are already drawing attention from top college programs.
Commitments and Rankings
Among the standouts, Jermaine Cobbins emerges as the five‑star prospect who tops the state’s 2027 class and ranks third nationally among cornerbacks, while Omarii Sanders secures the second spot in Tennessee and commits to Vanderbilt as a linebacker. Other recruits such as Brandon Leavell have pledged to Tennessee, and Jeramy Laster, a four‑star receiver, is already drawing comparisons to elite prospects in the 2028 class.
Statistical Highlights
The statistical leaders read like a who’s who of recent performance, with Donte Cameron having amassed 1,524 total yards last season, Kwadir Fletcher rushing for 558 yards and 11 touchdowns while also delivering 62 tackles on defense, and Drew Rempel catching 30 passes for 415 yards and five scores. Meanwhile, Kaden Grigsby contributed 1,034 all‑purpose yards and 10 touchdowns, and Carter Kilburg, an Air Force commitment, added 36 receptions for 410 yards and five touchdowns.
