Eagan's Pitching Takes Control
Eagan's ace limited the Redhawks to just two hits over the course of the game, stifling any rally attempts. The opposing pitcher worked efficiently, allowing only a single run while the Redhawks struggled to string together hits.
Despite the loss, several Redhawks showed flashes of brilliance. Gavin Werneburg contributed a double and a base hit, while Kyle Leopold drove in two runs during the earlier semifinal win over New Ulm. John Mueller went 2‑for‑3 with a double and a run scored, and George Restovich added a double and an RBI. Lincoln Majerus also chipped in with a double and an RBI.
On the mound, Werneburg delivered six strong innings, surrendering just one run on eight hits, but the early offensive deficit proved too large to overcome. Carter Funk closed out the semifinal with a clean inning, preserving the 5‑3 victory.
The Redhawks will now shift focus to a doubleheader against the Rochester Patriots scheduled for Monday at 4 p.m. at Alumni Field at John Adams Middle School, looking to rebound from the setback.
