The weekend saw Kingswood’s girls’ hockey programme put together a mixed but largely successful outing against Woodridge, recording four victories, a draw and two defeats across its age‑grade teams.
Hockey Highlights
The first XI opened the scoring with a 3‑1 triumph, thanks to two open‑play goals from Mia Botha and a penalty‑corner deflection by Nina Connan. Iminathi Rungqu marked the occasion with her 50th cap for the school, underscoring the depth of talent within the squad.
Other age groups also found the net: the U14B edged a 2‑1 win, the U16B prevailed 4‑3, while the second XI secured a 1‑0 shutout. The U14A and U16A sides were edged out 1‑0 and 2‑0 respectively, and the third team settled for a goalless draw.
Rugby Breakthroughs
On the rugby front, the senior first XV dominated with a 48‑7 victory, a result that featured debut caps for Dan Jakins and Malachi Rune. The win was tempered by the loss of captain Ross Thompson, who suffered an injury during the match.
Junior fixtures also delivered excitement: the U14A edged a 26‑24 thriller, the U15A ran out 33‑28 winners, and the second XV posted a commanding 49‑0 result. The U16A, however, fell to a 7‑12 defeat.
