Ryan Harris, a former Notre Dame offensive lineman and Super Bowl 50 champion, has announced that he will leave his analyst role with Notre Dame Radio later this fall after eight seasons of service. The move marks the end of a chapter that saw Harris become a familiar presence for Fighting Irish fans across the country.
Harris is no stranger to the broader sports media landscape. In addition to his radio work, he has contributed to Denver Broncos preseason broadcasts, CBS Sports, and Westwood One NFL Radio, bringing his on‑field experience and analytical depth to multiple platforms.
Beyond broadcasting, Harris is completing a law degree at the University of Colorado, a pursuit he has been balancing with his media commitments for several years. His dedication to both sports and academia was recognized when he earned the Colorado Sportscaster of the Year Award in 2020.
The veteran’s playing career spanned a decade in the NFL, during which he suited up for the Denver Broncos, Houston Texans, Kansas City Chiefs and Pittsburgh Steelers. His Super Bowl victory with the Broncos remains a highlight, and his collegiate roots trace back to his time at Notre Dame from 2003 to 2006.
Harris took the opportunity to thank the university and the radio network for the platform they provided, noting that the experience helped shape his professional trajectory. He also expressed gratitude toward mentors such as Chris Hettel, Paul Burmeister and Tony Simeone, who he said guided him throughout his tenure.
Looking Ahead
Industry observers are already speculating about potential successors, with former Notre Dame quarterback Ian Book mentioned as a possible candidate to fill Harris’s seat. Meanwhile, Harris plans to leverage his broadcasting background and legal training to explore new opportunities in the NFL and television sectors, a path that promises to keep him firmly in the public eye.
