Former High Point University standout Owen Aquino has taken the next step in his basketball career, signing a professional contract with Morabanc Andorra for the upcoming 2026‑27 season. The deal places the former Panther in the heart of Spain's Liga ACB, where he will compete alongside some of Europe's most promising talent.
A New Chapter in Spain
During the 2025‑26 campaign Aquino was a cornerstone for the Panthers, helping the program capture back‑to‑back Big South regular‑season and tournament titles and delivering the school's first NCAA Tournament victory over a fifth‑seeded Wisconsin squad. His contributions were pivotal in a historic upset that put High Point on the national map.
Aquino posted 9.3 points per game on 54.3% shooting from the field, reached double figures in 18 games, grabbed 5.8 rebounds per contest and led the team with 60 blocks. He recorded a season‑high five swats against USC Upstate and a season‑high 18 points versus Charleston Southern. His consistent production earned him a spot on the Big South Second Team All‑Conference.
Morabanc Andorra, a club based in Andorra la Vella but competing in the Spanish basketball league system, will give Aquino the platform to showcase his defensive prowess and versatility as a forward. Home games are played at the Poliesportiu d'Andorra, a venue that promises a vibrant atmosphere for the new import.
Looking Ahead
Coaches expect the former Panther to contribute immediately on both ends of the floor, providing scoring bursts, rebounding, and shot‑blocking that can swing games in tight contests. With his blend of size, shooting efficiency and defensive instincts, Aquino is poised to make an impact that could echo the success he enjoyed at High Point, while also opening new pathways for future American players in the Spanish league.
