Alex Peavler Joins Oregon State Basketball Staff

Veteran assistant brings a proven track record of offensive innovation and player development to Corvallis

Oregon State University announced this week that Alex Peavler will join the men’s basketball program as an assistant coach, bringing a wealth of experience from programs that have consistently competed at the national level.

A Storied Coaching Journey

Peavler’s career includes a tenure as a graduate assistant at Saint Louis, where the Billikens captured an NCAA Tournament berth in 2026 and he worked with eight All‑Atlantic 10 selections, among them 2026 Conference Player of the Year Robbie Avila.

He later moved to Indiana State, spending three seasons in progressively responsible roles, culminating as Director of Player Development, a period that ended with the Sycamores winning the Missouri Valley Conference and finishing with a 32‑7 record.

Earlier, Peavler served as Assistant Coach and Offensive Coordinator for Best Virginia in The Basketball Tournament and as a graduate assistant at Memphis, contributing to an NIT championship in the 2020‑21 season.

Beyond the bench, Peavler holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Florida Gulf Coast University and advanced degrees in Sports Management from Indiana State, complemented by graduate certificates in Digital Media Marketing and Product and Brand Management from Saint Louis.

Athletic director Justin Joyner praised Peavler’s blend of strategic acumen and player‑focused development, stating that his arrival aligns with the program’s ambition to elevate recruiting and on‑court performance.

The university community looks forward to seeing how Peavler’s offensive philosophy will shape the next chapter of Oregon State basketball, with expectations that his expertise will translate into stronger recruiting pipelines and more dynamic play on the court.
