Arkansas Women’s Basketball Adds Horne and Tramble to Coaching Ranks

New hires bring a blend of operational expertise and playing experience ahead of the upcoming season

The University of Arkansas women's basketball program revealed two key additions to its coaching staff on Tuesday, naming Erin Horne as director of basketball operations and Makyra Trumble as director of player development. Both expressed enthusiasm about contributing to the Razorbacks' vision under head coach Kelsi Musick.

Horne arrives after a stint as director of operations at Central Florida, where she oversaw day‑to‑day program management from 2023 through 2026. Prior to that, she spent four seasons at Lipscomb, three as director of operations and one as an assistant coach. Her playing career at Mercer and later as a graduate assistant at Converse College gave her a deep understanding of the student‑athlete experience.

Trumble’s journey to Fayetteville traces back to her collegiate years at Southwestern Oklahoma State, where she played under Coach Musick from 2019 to 2022. After transferring to Oklahoma State, she reunited with Musick at Oral Roberts for the 2023‑25 seasons, averaging 10.6 points, 3.2 assists and 3.9 rebounds while leading the Summit League in assist‑to‑turnover ratio at 1.91.

Departures and New Beginnings

The staff reshuffle also saw Amber Shirey exit Arkansas to take an assistant coaching role at Farmington High School, while Greg Gilman moved on to a similar position at Utah State. Their departures clear space for Horne and Trumble to bring fresh perspectives to the program.

Coach Musick highlighted the combined strengths of the new hires, noting Horne’s operational acumen and Trumble’s on‑court experience as complementary assets. The coaching staff believes the moves will enhance player development pathways and streamline administrative processes as the team looks ahead to the next competitive season.
