Wright State Raiders Unveil 2026 Men’s Soccer Schedule

A packed slate of 18 matches, including key Horizon League battles, aims to rebound from a challenging 2025 season

2026 Schedule Overview

The Wright State Raiders have released their full 2026 men’s soccer schedule, a 18‑game slate that blends non‑conference experiments with a compact Horizon League campaign. Head coach Alex Van der Sluijs, now in his third season, says the lineup is designed to test the team early and build momentum for conference play.

Eight of those matches will be played at Alumni Field, giving the Raiders a strong home presence. The season opens with two exhibition games against Big Ten powerhouse Ohio State and Bellarmine before the first official contest arrives on August 30, when Wright State hosts Lindenwood for its home opener.

Conference Battles Begin

Wright State will step into Horizon League competition on September 9 with a road test at Milwaukee, followed by a home clash against Green Bay on September 12 that marks the start of conference play. The Raiders will then travel to face Northern Illinois on September 26, a meeting that hasn’t occurred since 2004.

October brings a pair of road trips to Northern Kentucky and Detroit Mercy, while the team will also host back‑to‑back contests against Cleveland State and Ohio Northern later in the month. The schedule also includes a two‑game home stretch against IU Indy and Oakland to close the regular season.

Beyond the slate, the program recognizes recent achievements: Henry Hutchinson and Roman Kedgley earned spots on the 2025 Horizon League All‑League Third Team, and Alessandro Malterer was a finalist for the conference’s Sportsmanship award. The Raiders finished 2025 at 2‑13‑1 overall and 2‑7 in league play, and they hope the new schedule provides the platform to turn those numbers around.
