The 2025 MLB Draft Combine will open in Phoenix, Arizona, on June 23, bringing together 335 of the nation’s most promising baseball prospects for a week of medical exams, performance drills, and educational sessions.
Four members of the University of Virginia’s Cavaliers earned invitations, joining a field that includes 195 college players and 140 high school standouts.
Virginia’s Impact Players
Eric Becker, who missed nearly a month with an upper‑body injury, still managed a .317 average, seven home runs and 42 RBIs, while leading the team with 16 doubles and 18 hit‑by‑pitches.
AJ Gracia emerged as the offensive catalyst for the Cavaliers, batting .354 with 14 homers and 48 RBIs; his .550 slugging percentage, .440 on‑base mark and 24 multi‑hit games topped the lineup.
Kyle Johnson balanced a 6.87 ERA on the mound with a .241 bat at the plate, striking out 45 batters over 38 innings and adding seven home runs and 29 RBIs.
Joe Tiroly’s rookie season was nothing short of spectacular; he hit .319, launched 16 homers and drove in 66 runs, topping the squad in hits, total bases and RBIs.
National Spotlight and Coverage
MLB Network will provide live coverage of the opening day, with analysis and interviews streaming on MLB.TV, MLB.com and the MLB App. Workouts scheduled for June 24 will also be distributed across the league’s digital platforms.
The event serves as a final audition for teams ahead of the draft, with 256 of the 309 participants from the previous combine being selected, including 87 of the first 100 picks.
