State Championship Landscape
The 2026 FHSAA Girls Flag Football State Championships are underway in Tampa, featuring four area programs — Tampa Catholic, Robinson, East Lake, and Lennard — all vying for top honors.
Robinson High School secured its place in the 2A title game with a dominant 42‑12 win over Choctawhatchee on Friday, continuing its reputation as the program’s most successful team.
Lennard advanced to the 4A finals after a 39‑19 victory against Harmony, a win that also highlighted the program’s bright future as three senior players have already committed to Daytona State College.
The championship matches are scheduled for Saturday at the AdventHealth Training Center, where the finalists will battle for the state titles.
Robinson is chasing its tenth consecutive state championship and 11th overall in program history, underscoring its lasting legacy in the sport.
Coach Travis Combs, who led Lennard to the finals, is transitioning to the collegiate ranks, set to head the first women’s flag football team at Indiana Wesleyan University beginning in the 2026‑2027 season.
The move reflects a growing pipeline for the sport, as local high school talent eyes collegiate opportunities and the next generation of coaches.
