At Howell High School, senior Danny Hampton capped a remarkable high school career that will be remembered for years. He became the first player from Livingston County in fifteen years to finish a season batting above .500, a feat that placed him among the elite hitters in the state.
Beyond the .500 mark, Hampton added 192 career hits, 53 doubles, 12 triples and 89 walks to the record books, establishing new standards for the program. His performance earned him the Most Valuable Player award in the West squad of the Michigan High School Baseball Coaches’ Association All‑Star Game, held at Comerica Park.
A historic season for Livingston County baseball
The accolades did not stop there. Brighton catcher Aden Bailey, also a senior, secured a spot on the Division 1 all‑state team with a .404 batting average, ranking second in the county with 33 RBIs and tying for the county lead with four triples. Meanwhile, Hartland junior shortstop Dylan Crowe impressed voters with a .418 average, 46 runs scored and a county‑leading 33 stolen bases, while also posting a 0.98 earned run average that topped the local charts.
The trio’s selections reflect the depth of talent emerging from Livingston County, a region that has not seen such representation on the all‑state stage since 2019. Their achievements contributed to the Dream Team, which comprises the top 29 players across Michigan regardless of division, underscoring the county’s growing influence in high school baseball.
The recognition marks a turning point for baseball in the county, as local programs continue to develop players who can compete at the highest levels of high school competition. With the Michigan High School Baseball Coaches’ Association providing a platform for showcasing talent, the recent selections highlight the effectiveness of grassroots coaching and community support.
