Local Baseball Teams Celebrate Tournament Wins
The Diamond Dawgs 12U squad captured the Jeremy Gorcica Father’s Day Tournament in Eden, completing a flawless run that showcased both offensive firepower and disciplined pitching.
Lakewood’s 10U Gladiators celebrated Father’s Day with a 18‑2 triumph over Orchard Park White in Premier League play, a game in which Griffin Beaver threw two innings, striking out two batters without allowing a run.
The Gladiators’ bullpen then shut down Orchard Park, combining for six strikeouts while surrendering just one hit and one earned run, underscoring the team’s depth on the mound.
Later in the week the Gladiators swept a doubleheader against NY Stingers White, posting 17‑1 and 23‑6 victories that highlighted their offensive versatility.
The Diamond Dawgs 13U team also posted a 9‑1 win over the Grand Island Vikings, with Collin Bragg delivering a six‑inning outing that yielded seven strikeouts and just one walk.
In the Jamestown Babe Ruth League Majors Division, True Value advanced to the semifinals with a dramatic 13‑12 victory over Ballgame Heroes, a game highlighted by Landon Conti’s walk‑off three‑run inside‑the‑park home run.
Other Lakewood Gladiators 14U players, including Carter Skoglund, Theo Melquist and Easton Smith, contributed to a weekend that saw the club defeat South Buffalo 23‑11, WNY Prospects 3‑2 and Twin Tiers 15‑9 before a narrow 9‑7 loss to North Buffalo.
The weekend’s action across Eden, Lakewood, Orchard Park, Grand Island and other local communities reflects the growing competitiveness of youth baseball in western New York.
