Sandpoint High School Prepares for 2026 Football Season
Sandpoint High School entered a 10‑day summer practice window that featured three full‑contact scrimmages, giving the team a rare chance to test schemes and evaluate talent under game‑like conditions.
Head coach Ryan Knowles stressed that the practices are about more than just repetitions; they are designed to instill the physicality and discipline needed for a competitive season, with a focus on improving blocking, tackling and passing fundamentals.
The squad faced off against Glacier High School, the defending Class AA state champions, and emerged with several bright spots: Brock Yarbrough, who last season amassed 1,047 receiving yards and nine touchdowns while also contributing 64 tackles and three interceptions, continued to shine, while All‑State running back Jensen Sheets, returning from injury, showed marked improvement.
Logan Iverson is slated to take over at quarterback, stepping into the role vacated by Braden Buckhout, and the defensive line featuring Tucker Overland, Mason McLain, Sean Ketchum and Justice Manske drew praise for its intensity. In the secondary, Trey Blumenberg and Devin McEnaney stepped up to fill starting spots, promising added depth in the secondary.
Off the field, the support staff — including team moms and manager Jarrett Robson — provided logistical assistance during the scrimmages, and the team is now shifting to 7v7 drills to fine‑tune a more dynamic passing offense ahead of the August 21 season opener against Twin Falls.
