Honesdale’s 2026 Boys Basketball Camp Builds Future Talent

Three‑day camp at Wayne Highlands Middle School draws 70 young athletes and highlights community involvement

A Summer Tradition Takes Shape

From June 16 to 18, the 2026 Wayne County Commissioners Boys Basketball Camp convened at Wayne Highlands Middle School in Honesdale, Pennsylvania, gathering 70 children from grades three through eight.

Coach Jon Gillow, who heads the Honesdale varsity program, directed the sessions, while current and former Honesdale players volunteered as coaches, creating a mentorship atmosphere that blended skill development with community spirit.

The curriculum combined offensive and defensive drills with scrimmages, emphasizing fundamentals, teamwork and pure enjoyment of the game for each participant.

At the conclusion of the camp, standout performers were recognized with awards presented to Dylan Burke, Wyatt Warring, Cagney Hamill and Pep Hemmler, celebrating both athletic ability and sportsmanship.

Looking ahead, the organizers plan a series of summer clinics that will also cover girls basketball, boys soccer and football, aiming to foster a lasting love of sport and strengthen the Honesdale basketball program for future seasons.
