A streak that’s rewriting the record books
The Rowan County American Legion baseball team has rattled off 14 straight victories, positioning itself to eclipse the program’s single‑season win total set last summer.
Coach Seth Graham, now in his second year at the helm, credits the squad’s balanced attack for the surge. The team is batting .335 overall and reaches base at a .452 clip, while plating 171 runs in 18 outings – an average of more than nine per game.
Offensively, Cole Blevins leads the charge with a .480 average and 29 runs scored, while Carter Durant, tied with Blevins for the team lead in RBIs at 22, has added a .397 average from the previous season. Maddox Moore’s 12 stolen bases underscore an aggressive baserunning approach.
The pitching staff showcases depth, with 16 wins spread across nine different arms. Kendal Sifford and Brant Graham each earned three victories, and Connor Park contributed six wins last summer, forming a reliable rotation behind the ace performances of Jacob Prevette and Parker Durant.
Defensively, the squad’s discipline shows in the Southern Division of Area 3, where they sit 8‑0, the only blemish coming from a tough matchup against Union County, which holds an 8‑1 league record. The proximity of rival games in Mooresville, Wilmington, and Randolph County adds a regional flavor to the competition.
Beyond the diamond, the team’s success reflects the broader tradition of American Legion baseball, a program supported by the American Legion organization, which continues to nurture talent across the United States, from High Point to the national stage.
