Monday night delivered a doubleheader of success for the PCM baseball and softball teams, each overcoming Nevada in its own style.
Baseball Edge Over Nevada
The baseball squad edged Nevada 5-4 in a tightly fought Heart of Iowa Conference contest, a win that kept their momentum alive.
Shay Burns turned in a complete game, surrendering nine hits and four earned runs while striking out nine, a display of durability and control.
The offense rallied around Coby DeRaad, Izaac Bagby, Bode Blackburn and Jensson Hood, each delivering a hit and an RBI, which helped the team improve to 13-5 on the season.
Softball Surge in the Fourth
The softball team answered with an 11-3 victory, sparked by a six-run fourth inning that put the game out of reach.
Camden Webb pitched four innings, giving up six hits and two earned runs while fanning five batters, setting a solid foundation.
Libby Winters followed with two shutout innings, striking out four and allowing just one hit, preserving the lead.
At the plate, Lilian Knapp was outstanding, going 2-for-2 with a home run and three RBIs, while Lilan Humpal added a 2-for-2 effort with an RBI and Ila Keuning contributed a double.
Looking Ahead
Both programs now sit at 14-3 (softball) and 13-5 (baseball), and they will each face new opponents tonight, promising more competitive matchups for fans.
