Oregon State’s women’s basketball program has announced the signing of French forward Genesia Mayele to its 2026 class, a move that adds a 6‑foot‑1 wing with proven experience in the French league system.
A versatile weapon for the Beavers
Mayele’s résumé includes a stint with Pays Voironnais Basket Club in LF2 and a standout performance at the 2025 FIBA U19 World Cup, where she averaged 22 points over five games while wearing the French jersey.
Head Coach Scott Rueck praised her scoring instincts and defensive versatility, describing her as a dynamic player who can slot in at small forward and provide the kind of two‑way impact the Beavers need.
The roster now stands at 14 scholarship athletes, comprising eight returning players and six freshmen, with guards Kennedie Shuler, Jenna Villa and Ally Schimel returning alongside incoming freshman Taylor Young, ensuring depth at the backcourt.
Competing in the reborn Pac‑12 conference, the Beavers will face traditional powerhouses such as Gonzaga, whose WCC Player of the Year Lauren Whittaker will be a central challenge as the team aims to return to the postseason.
