A Dynamic Addition to the Roster
Manhattan College announced the addition of Kevin Kearney, a redshirt sophomore forward, to its men's basketball program. The move comes as the Jaspers look to sharpen their interior presence and add depth heading into the upcoming season.
Coach John Gallagher praised Kearney's athleticism and versatility, noting that the forward can influence the game on both ends of the floor. Gallagher highlighted Kearney's energy and defensive instincts as qualities that fit the program's evolving identity.
Kearney arrives after a stint with the Saint Joseph's Hawks in the Atlantic 10 Conference, where he appeared in 14 games during the 2023‑24 campaign and logged 57 minutes of playing time. In that period he contributed five points, a free‑throw make, and three rebounds, showcasing his ability to impact the game in limited minutes.
Prior to his college career, Kearney dominated the New York City public‑school scene, leading South Shore High School to the 2022 city title and earning All‑New York Second Team honors as a senior. He also honed his skills on the AAU circuit with the New York Gauchos, a pathway that helped sharpen his competitive edge.
Off the court, Kearney will pursue a degree in Communications at Manhattan, balancing his athletic ambitions with academic goals. His arrival adds a layer of experience and local familiarity that could prove pivotal as the Jaspers aim to climb the conference standings.
