The University of Alabama at Birmingham will host its annual men’s basketball golf tournament on September 16 at the historic Highland Park Golf Course in Birmingham. The morning will kick off with breakfast at 8:00 a.m., followed by an early opening of the practice range at 7:00 a.m., giving participants ample time to warm up before the competition begins.
Fundraising with a Purpose
All entry fees and donations collected during the day will be directed to the Competitive Excellence Fund, a dedicated initiative that supports scholarships, academic resources and high‑level competition for UAB’s student‑athletes. The fund aims to sustain the program’s rapid rise over the past few seasons.
Sponsorship opportunities range from $500 to $6,000, offering partners a spectrum of visibility options, from on‑course signage to branded hospitality tents. Individual golfers can also register for a modest fee, with each participant contributing directly to the fund’s mission.
Head coach Andy Kennedy, who has guided the Blazers to a 20‑12 record and a third‑longest Division I road winning streak in the 2025‑26 season, expressed enthusiasm for the tournament’s impact. “This event underscores our commitment to excellence both on the court and in the classroom,” Kennedy said in a statement.
Under Kennedy’s leadership, the team has amassed 145 victories since 2020, ranking 15th nationally, and has earned two NCAA Tournament berths and two notable NIT runs. The program’s consistent 20‑plus win seasons reflect a culture of sustained success that the tournament seeks to amplify.
Community members interested in supporting the cause can register as individual golfers or secure a sponsorship package through the Blazer Boosters. For further details, contact the organization at (205) 996‑9969 or email blazerboosters@uab.edu, and follow @UAB_MBB on X and Instagram for updates.
