Robby Enslen Joins Valparaiso Baseball Staff as Hitting Coach

Former Alpena Community College head coach brings proven offensive expertise to the Golden Grizzlies

Valparaiso University has named Robby Enslen its new hitting coach, entrusting the former collegiate standout with shaping the next generation of Golden Grizzlies batters. The announcement came during a press conference that highlighted Enslen’s blend of playing experience and coaching success.

Enslen spent four seasons at Alpena Community College, where he rebuilt a modest program into a competitive force. Under his direction, the team’s run production surged from 124 to 297 in a single tenure, and 19 players earned all‑conference honors, including three all‑region selections and a Conference Player of the Year.

His playing career includes a professional stint with the River City Rascals in the Frontier League and a collegiate tenure at Oakland University, where he batted .317 and compiled 45 doubles and 115 RBIs. He graduated from Oakland with a bachelor’s degree in communication.

Beyond coaching, Enslen has served as an instructor for the Petoskey Baseball Association and Diamonds Training Academy, and he contributed to the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League. These roles have sharpened his ability to develop hitters across a range of skill levels.

Looking ahead

Valparaiso’s athletic director, Brian Schmack, praised the hire, noting Enslen’s proven ability to develop hitters and his deep roots in the Midwest baseball community. Schmack expressed confidence that Enslen’s offensive philosophy will translate into more high‑scoring games and stronger postseason prospects for the program.
