Jennifer Rockwood, the winningest coach in BYU women's soccer history, revealed this week that the upcoming 2026 NCAA campaign will be her final one. The announcement came as the program prepares to honor her three‑decade contribution to the university and the broader collegiate soccer community.
Rockwood's tenure spans over 30 seasons, during which she compiled a staggering 470 wins, placing her among the top ten most victorious coaches in Division I women's soccer. Her teams have been a constant presence in the NCAA Tournament, earning 26 bids and capturing 19 top‑25 finishes, including 17 regular‑season titles and nine conference tournament championships.
Mentorship and Academic Excellence
Beyond the numbers, Rockwood's impact is measured in the players she has shaped. She has mentored 24 All‑Americans, 13 Academic All‑Americans and nine contenders for the MAC Hermann Trophy, while guiding 18 alumni to professional contracts and nine to U‑20 national team duty. Her coaching philosophy emphasized both competitive success and academic excellence.
The 2026 season will feature a series of tributes at South Field, where special ceremonies are planned for home matches to celebrate Rockwood's legacy. University officials have launched a national search to identify her successor, aiming to maintain the high standards she established.
Brian Santiago, a longtime assistant who has worked closely with Rockwood, will play a key role in the transition, ensuring continuity as the program moves forward. The search committee, comprised of administrators, former players and alumni, will begin its work immediately after the season concludes.
