Carter Beck, an outfielder for Indiana State, has been selected for the College Sports Communicators 2026 Academic All‑America First Team, a distinction that marks his first appearance on the prestigious list.
The junior, who majors in finance, maintains a 3.96 cumulative GPA, underscoring his commitment to scholarship as well as sport.
During the 2026 season Beck led the Missouri Valley Conference in several key offensive metrics, batting .348 with 82 hits and 59 runs batted in. He also posted 28 multi‑hit games and 16 contests with multiple RBIs, and he smashed three grand slams over the course of the year.
His performance earned him the 2026 Joe Carter MVC Baseball Player of the Year award, and he becomes only the fifth Sycamore to receive Academic All‑American honors, the first since 2019.
A Legacy of Achievement
The recognition extends beyond Beck; Noah Sullivan, Dagen Brewer, Bryan Carney and Alex Johnson were named Academic All‑America Team Members of the Year for their respective divisions, highlighting a broader wave of excellence among the conference’s student‑athletes.
Indiana State’s tradition of producing scholar‑athletes continues, with Beck’s accolade joining a short list of past recipients who have gone on to excel both on the field and in their professional careers.
