The Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League (WPIAL) has announced its 2026 baseball Players of the Year, honoring six standout athletes from across the region.
Cooper Hochendoner, a senior recruit from Slippery Rock, earned the Offensive Player of the Year award after posting a .500 batting average, launching 12 home runs and driving in 45 runs.
Brady Hull, also a Slippery Rock prospect, was selected Defensive Player of the Year following a season in which he posted a 0.90 earned run average and struck out 120 batters.
Both players were instrumental in guiding Slippery Rock to the WPIAL championship, a victory that capped a dominant campaign for the team.
A Historic Double Honor
The accolade marks a first in WPIAL history: it is the inaugural year that two athletes from the same school have been crowned Players of the Year in a single season.
Looking ahead, Hochendoner and Hull will continue their careers at Slippery Rock University, where they are expected to make an immediate impact on the college roster.
