After a distinguished 41‑year association with Brigham Young University’s women’s soccer program, head coach Jennifer Rockwood has announced that she will step down at the conclusion of the 2026 season.
Rockwood first arrived in Provo as a student‑athlete in 1985, later transitioning to the sidelines where she guided the team from club status to an NCAA Division I powerhouse.
A Legacy of Championships
During her tenure she oversaw 17 regular‑season titles and nine conference championships, while her squads posted winning records in 29 of 31 NCAA seasons. The program’s ascent culminated in an appearance on the national championship stage, cementing her reputation as the winningest active female head coach in college soccer.
Her influence extended beyond the trophy cabinet. Nine of her former players earned caps for the United States women’s national team, and eighteen turned professional, a testament to her emphasis on development and preparation for the next level.
Celebrating a Career
BYU plans to honor Rockwood throughout the 2026 campaign, beginning with the season opener on August 12 at UCLA in Los Angeles and continuing with the team’s first home game on August 22 against USC.
The university will weave tributes into the schedule, allowing fans and alumni to reflect on four decades of leadership before the coaching search commences after the NCAA tournament in December.
Looking Forward
Following the tournament, BYU will begin the process of identifying a successor to continue the program’s tradition of excellence, ensuring that the foundation Rockwood built remains a guiding force for years to come.
