Texas has turned up the heat on one of the state's most coveted linebackers in the 2027 class. Jerrell Bridges, currently committed to Houston, arrived on campus last Friday for an official visit, signaling a renewed effort by the Longhorns to secure his pledge.
A Recruiting Surge
Bridges capped his junior season with a standout performance, recording 105 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, three sacks, two forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries. Those numbers have earned him a No. 1,427 national ranking and the No. 134 spot among linebackers according to Rivals, while he is also listed as the No. 182 recruit in Texas.
The Longhorns already hold a commitment from Cade Haug, a three‑star linebacker who pledged in February, and they view Bridges as a potential piece that could round out a defensive class that is shaping up to be among the most competitive in the state.
If Bridges were to flip, Texas would not only add a versatile defender but also send a strong message to rivals about the program's recruiting momentum. The move would bolster a 2027 class that is already attracting attention from top prospects across the region.
