A Community in Mourning
On May 19, emergency responders recovered the body of 14‑year‑old Cody Nguyen from a pond in Harold Parker State Forest, a scenic reserve on the outskirts of Andover, Massachusetts. The circumstances surrounding the incident are still under investigation, but the loss has sent shockwaves through the local community.
Cody was known across Doherty Middle School for his infectious optimism, his keen eye for sneakers and his passion for basketball. Classmates recall a teenager who could light up a room with his smile and who spent countless afternoons shooting hoops on the school courts.
He is survived by his parents, Can and Thuy Nguyen, his brothers Ken and Alex, and his grandparents Kim Hoang, Julie, Huynh and Lun. Extended family members and close friends also mourn his passing, remembering a young man whose kindness and positivity left a lasting impression.
Memorial Services and Tributes
A wake will be held Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Conte Funeral Home in Andover, providing a space for family and friends to gather and share memories. The following day, a Buddhist ceremony and burial service will take place, allowing loved ones to honor Cody’s spirit in accordance with his family’s traditions.
School officials and community leaders have expressed their condolences, highlighting Cody’s role as a positive influence on his peers and his enthusiasm for sport and style. Tributes have flooded social media, with many noting that his legacy will endure in the hearts of those who knew him.
