Drew Burress and Carson Kerce, both juniors at Georgia Tech, have been named to the first and second teams of the Academic All-America baseball squads, a testament to their simultaneous excellence in the classroom and on the diamond.
A Dual Recognition
Both students hail from the Scheller College of Business, where Burress graduated with a degree in Business Administration and Kerce is completing his third year with a 3.73 GPA. Their academic rigor is matched by their athletic impact, as each maintains a high GPA while contributing significantly to the team’s performance.
Burress rewrote the Yellow Jackets’ record books, smashing the home run mark with 60 career homers over three seasons. He also holds the school’s all-time records for runs, RBIs, doubles, total bases and more, and earned first-team All-American honors from four different publications.
Kerce, meanwhile, set a single-season doubles record with 29 and led the squad in runs, hits, doubles, triples, home runs and RBIs. His offensive versatility helped the team remain competitive throughout the year.
Additional Accolades
The academic distinction does not stop with Burress and Kerce. Three more Yellow Jackets were selected to the Academic All-District team by the College Sports Communicators, highlighting a program culture that prizes scholarship as much as sport.
