Katelyn Haiser capped her high school career with a spectacular senior season, netting 31 goals and dishing out 11 assists for Plainfield North. Her blend of finishing precision and playmaking earned her the 2026 Herald-News Girls Soccer Player of the Year award, a distinction that reflects both statistical dominance and team impact.
Beyond the numbers, Haiser’s versatility shone through as she was also named Plainfield North Female Athlete of the Year and earned all‑state honors. Those accolades underscored a season in which she consistently elevated her teammates and anchored the team’s attacking rhythm.
Commitment to the Next Level
Choosing DePaul University was a deliberate step toward greater competition. Haiser highlighted the Big East Conference’s reputation as a proving ground for elite talent, and she is eager to test herself against some of the nation’s best midfielders and forwards.
Coach Kathleen Monterosso praised Haiser’s relentless mentality and selfless teamwork, noting that her work ethic set a standard for the entire squad. "Katelyn leads by example — she never shies away from the grind, and she always puts the team first," Monterosso said.
Reflecting on her freshman team’s run to the supersectional round, Haiser described the experience as a pivotal learning moment. "Playing at that level taught me the importance of preparation, resilience, and trusting the process," she explained.
Haiser hopes her journey inspires younger players to embrace hard work, cultivate a strong mindset, and value collaboration. "Success isn’t just about personal stats; it’s about lifting those around you and staying committed to the collective goal," she added.
