NEC Championship Secured
The Le Moyne College baseball squad delivered a commanding doubleheader performance against Central Connecticut State University, winning 3-2 in the opener and 16-5 in the nightcap. The victories not only clinched the fourth seed in the upcoming NEC tournament but also marked the program’s first-ever berth in the championship series.
Adam Sullivan led the offense with a solo home run and a team‑high four RBIs, while Jack Cannon contributed three runs driven in and two stolen bases. Derek Diaz delivered the go‑ahead run in the ninth inning of game one, and AJ Petraitis dominated on the mound with seven strikeouts over seven innings. Luke Connors closed out the game with three strikeouts in two perfect innings, and reliever Mitchell Earle finished the second game with a single strikeout.
Looking Ahead to Long Island
The Dolphins will now travel to face Long Island University in the NEC championship series, scheduled for Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at the University of Saint Joseph in West Hartford, Connecticut. Having won ten of eleven NEC series this season, the team enters the final matchup with momentum and confidence, aiming to cap a historic campaign with its first conference title.
