A new junior hockey franchise, the Fox Cities Forge, is slated to take the ice in Appleton, Wisconsin, this fall, joining the North American 3 Hockey League.
The club will play a 22‑game home schedule at the Appleton Ice Arena, giving the region a dedicated venue for high‑level competition.
Ownership and Coaching Vision
The team is backed by a trio of local investors — Mark Mazzoleni, Jeff Lindemann and Darrell LaCrosse — who bring a blend of playing, coaching and administrative experience to the venture.
Mazzoleni previously served as head coach of the USHL’s Green Bay Gamblers, while Lindemann currently leads the varsity program at Neenah High School.
Keeping Talent Close to Home
Lindemann said the organization’s goal is to provide Wisconsin players with an opportunity to develop without having to leave the state, allowing them to stay near family and friends while competing at a high level.
A Development Hub for the Region
Junior hockey sits between high school competition and higher tiers such as the NAHL and USHL, offering a crucial stepping stone for aspiring athletes.
With 14 players already signed for the inaugural roster, the Forge aims to blend local talent with prospects from across the Midwest, creating a competitive yet community‑focused squad.
Beyond the rink, the ownership group envisions the team as a catalyst for youth engagement and a source of pride for the local hockey community.
