A Strategic Leap for Colorado Basketball
The University of Colorado announced that Derrick White, a former Buffaloes standout and current Boston Celtics guard, will be introduced as the program’s inaugural President of Basketball Strategy during a press conference on June 24 at 10 a.m. The event will take place at the Touchdown Club in the Dal Ward Athletic Center.
White, who helped lead Colorado to its first NCAA championship game appearance in 2022, will step into a role that blends analytics, player development and long‑term planning. His family will also contribute $2 million to the university’s men’s basketball program, a gesture that underscores their commitment to the school’s athletic future.
The ceremony will feature White alongside head coach Tad Boyle and Colorado Director of Athletics Fernando Lovo, who will discuss the vision for the program’s next era. Boyle praised White’s leadership, while Lovo highlighted the significance of the donation for facility upgrades and scholarship support.
White’s appointment marks a strategic shift for the Buffaloes, who have been seeking a dedicated executive to oversee basketball operations beyond the court. The move is expected to deepen ties with alumni and bolster the program’s competitiveness in the Pac‑12.
