Bentley University’s Four Sports Teams Earn NE10 Academic Excellence Awards

Volleyball, football, men's lacrosse and men's track recognized for top GPAs, tying for most awards in conference

Bentley University announced that four of its athletic programs have been honored with the Northeast 10 Conference’s Team Academic Excellence award for the 2025‑26 academic year. The recognition celebrates teams that combine competitive success with some of the highest collective grade point averages among conference members.

Academic Excellence Across the Board

The conference’s award is calculated by ranking each sport’s participating institutions according to their combined GPA, with the top‑scoring program in each sport receiving the distinction.

The men’s track and field squad secured the honor for the thirteenth time, extending a streak that began in 2010. The men’s lacrosse team captured its twelfth conference academic title and achieved the milestone for the sixth straight season.

The football program earned its fourth consecutive award and the tenth overall, while the volleyball team posted the highest cumulative GPA across all Bentley squads and also captured the NCAA East Region championship for the third straight year.

Bentley’s sweep tied the school with the most academic awards handed out by the NE10 this season, and it placed the university among only two institutions in the conference where every sponsored team posted a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

The accomplishment underscores the university’s dual commitment to athletic competition and scholarly achievement, a balance that administrators say reflects the dedication of student‑athletes and the support structures that enable them to excel in the classroom.
