Amanda Abromson Named Head Coach of Braintree High Girls Hockey

Record‑setting alum returns to lead program after historic scoring career and international playing experience

A new era for Braintree High girls hockey

Amanda Abromson has been named the new head coach of Braintree High’s girls ice hockey program, taking the reins after a distinguished playing career that made her the school’s all‑time leading scorer with 111 career points.

The team’s fortunes have shifted dramatically, having posted a 9‑8‑4 record last winter after a 2‑18‑1 season the year before, earning a No. 24 seed in the Division 1 playoffs before falling to No. 9 North Andover in the opening round.

A legacy of scoring and international experience

Abromson’s hockey résumé includes stints with USA Hockey’s National University Team at the Winter World University Games in Italy and Spain, as well as coaching roles at Pro Ambitions and Driscoll Skating & Skills, where she honed player development techniques.

Her 111 points place her atop the school’s scoring list, a milestone that reflects both offensive skill and longevity, while her time with the national university squad exposed her to elite competition in Europe.

Representing the United States on the world stage, Abromson helped the team compete in events held in Italy, Spain and Kazakhstan, gaining a global perspective that she now brings to her coaching philosophy.

Building the future of girls hockey

In addition to her coaching duties, she serves as the girls program director for Braintree Youth Ice Hockey and runs an offseason training company focused on girls’ hockey development, a venture supported by partners such as Pro Ambitions and Driscoll Skating & Skills.

The appointment has been welcomed by school officials and peers who anticipate a continued rise in program competitiveness.
