The Colorado High School Activities Association launched its state baseball championships for classes 5A through 2A on Friday, kicking off a slate of regional contests that will continue through Saturday. With 28 regionals scheduled for the second day, each winner will move on to the double‑elimination state tournaments that are set to unfold over the next two weekends.
5A Tournament Highlights
In the 5A bracket, No. 14 Mountain Vista emerged from Region 3 with a decisive 7‑4 victory over No. 19 Valor Christian, followed by a 10‑1 win against No. 3 Erie. The same class also saw No. 4 Regis Jesuit advance after posting an 11‑1 triumph over No. 29 Riverdale Ridge and a 4‑2 win over No. 13 Chaparral.
4A Regional Results
Class 4A action produced two standout performances. No. 5 Grand Junction captured Region 5 by routing No. 28 Longmont 12‑0 and then edging No. 12 Discovery Canyon 4‑1. Meanwhile, No. 11 Holy Family moved forward after defeating No. 22 Grand Junction Central 10‑0 and then overcoming No. 6 Lutheran 9‑1.
The momentum built during these regionals sets the stage for the upcoming state tournaments, where the remaining teams will battle for the ultimate titles across each classification.
