Sophomore midfielder Sophia Coady anchored the Newton girls soccer team's offense, leading the squad in points with a combination of two goals and an assist during Little Hawkeye Conference play. Her 11 shots complemented a disciplined midfield presence that helped the Cardinals maintain possession and create scoring opportunities.
Senior forward Aliviah Ross provided the team's finishing touch, tallying one goal and an assist while ranking among the leaders in shot volume. Ross's 14 attempts highlighted her aggressive attacking role, and her contribution earned her a second‑team nod on the all‑conference squad.
Conference Honors
The Cardinals' quartet of Coady, Ross, junior Payton Carkhuff and sophomore Quincy Davidson started every league match, a testament to the coaching staff's confidence in their versatility. Coady's five points secured her a second‑team selection at midfield, while Ross's forward work earned her a spot on the second team as well.
Carkhuff, who operated primarily as a midfielder, received honorable‑mention recognition, and Davidson was similarly acknowledged for her defensive contributions, earning all‑LHC honors as a defender.
