Rain Delays Legion Baseball Games, Reschedule Plans Set

The Mercer County American Legion League has seen its schedule tossed aside by an unexpected stretch of rain, marking the second straight day of weather‑related postponements. Several contests that were slated for earlier this week have been pushed back as the league scrambles to keep its 18‑game regular season on track.

Among the rescheduled matchups, Hightstown Post 148 will host Lawrence Post 414 at 5:45 p.m. on Friday at Mike Pezzicola Field in Eggerts Crossing Central Park. The game is part of a broader effort to compress the slate before the July 15 deadline.

Another postponement involves Trenton Posts 93/182 traveling to face Hamilton Post 31 on Tuesday, July 7 at Steinert High’s Rich Giallella Field, also slated for a 5:45 p.m. start. A third game, North Hamilton Hibos versus Princeton Post 218, remains uncertain and could be moved to Sunday afternoon at Barbara Smoyer Park pending field conditions.

League officials have said the current window allows for all delayed games to be completed by mid‑July, after which the season is scheduled to resume on Wednesday, weather permitting. In the meantime, the standings show Bordentown Post 26 leading the pack at 5‑0, followed by Hightstown 148 and Lawrence 414.

Organizers hope the dry spell will break soon, giving players and fans a chance to return to the diamond. The rescheduling underscores the league’s flexibility and the community’s commitment to keeping the season alive despite Mother Nature’s interference.
