The College Baseball Hall of Fame will welcome former Mississippi State pitcher and Cincinnati Reds broadcaster Jeff Brantley into its ranks on February 11, when the 19th induction class is celebrated in Overland Park, Kansas.
Induction Ceremony
The event will bring together players, coaches, and fans to honor Brantley’s dual legacy as a dominant pitcher and a trusted voice in baseball broadcasting.
His induction marks the culmination of a journey that began in Starkville, where he led Mississippi State to its first College World Series championship in 1990.
A Career Defined by Excellence
During his collegiate career, Brantley posted a school‑record 18 wins in a single season, a figure that still stands as the SEC’s all‑time single‑season win total.
That performance helped the Bulldogs capture the 1990 College World Series title, cementing his place among the program’s all‑time greats.
After signing professionally, he transitioned to broadcasting, debuting on ESPN in 2001 before becoming a regular color commentator for the Cincinnati Reds in 2006, where his analytical depth and warm delivery have earned widespread acclaim.
The ceremony will also feature reflections from former teammates and longtime colleagues, who have highlighted his preparation, professionalism, and ability to connect with audiences as defining strengths.
Brantley will be inducted alongside other Hall of Fame members such as Buster Posey and Barry Bonds, a class that reflects both on‑field brilliance and lasting contributions to the game.
