PYAC Opens Fall Sports Registration, Calls for Volunteer Coaches

Families can sign up for volleyball, flag football and cheer through July 10; details and registration are available on the club’s website.

The Philomath Youth Activities Club announced today that registration for its fall sports programs is now open, giving families a chance to enroll children in volleyball, flag football and recreational cheer before the July 10 deadline. The initiative targets students who will be entering grades K‑8 in the upcoming school year, with each sport organized by age‑appropriate divisions.

Program Details and Age Groups

Volleyball is offered for students in grades 4‑8, with seventh and eighth graders competing in the school league while grades 4‑6 play in the Valley League. Flag football is available for children in grades 3‑6, and the program follows the NFL Flag Football format, hosting most games in Philomath and nearby Corvallis. Recreational cheer welcomes participants from kindergarten through eighth grade, including a special “mini” division for the youngest athletes. All grade levels refer to the class a child will enter in the fall of 2026.

Community Partnerships and League Structure

PYAC partners with Philomath High School to run the cheer program, providing a direct pathway for students to transition into high school spirit squads. For tackle football, the club has stepped back, handing that offering over to MidValley Pop Warner, which now manages the tackle division for local youth.

Volunteer Coaches Sought

Club officials are actively recruiting volunteer coaches for all three sports, emphasizing that experienced adults can help maintain safe, competitive environments while mentoring young athletes. Prospective coaches are encouraged to reach out through the PYAC website to learn about the application process and the support provided to volunteers.

How to Register

Families can complete registration online at the PYAC website, where they will find detailed information about each sport, required documentation and the deadline of July 10. The site also hosts contact information for questions, as well as a portal for submitting volunteer coach applications.
