NYC Unveils Five New Soccer Streets Watch Parties for the 2026 FIFA World Cup
New York City’s streets are set to transform into vibrant gathering spots as the city prepares for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani, alongside NYC Department of Transportation Commissioner Mike Flynn, announced five new “Soccer Streets” watch parties that will be spread across Brooklyn, Manhattan and Queens.
The initiative is part of a broader plan to host more than one hundred free public viewing events throughout the five boroughs, each designed to bring residents together around the world’s biggest soccer tournament.
Osborn Plaza in Brooklyn will kick off the series on June 26 with a live set by the percussion group Fogo Azul, while Johnny Hartman Plaza in Manhattan will follow on July 2 with a performance by the Sambuco Tribe.
Additional stops include Kensington Plaza in Brooklyn on July 7, featuring an opera showcase by ADVANCE/MORE Opera, and Brooklyn Bridge Arches Plaza in Manhattan on July 10, where Fogo Azul returns for another performance.
Corona Plaza in Queens will close the local lineup on July 15 with a dance festival by the Queensboro Dance Festival, rounding out a schedule that will broadcast matches such as Norway versus France, 1H versus 2J, W85 versus W87, W93 versus W94 and W99 versus W100.
