A Historic Postseason for Arkansas Baseball
Arkansas right‑hander Ethan McElvain has been named an All‑America by the College Baseball Foundation for the third time in his career, adding another chapter to his already impressive résumé.
The senior reliever closed out a dominant season with a 6‑0 record, a 1.03 earned run average and 52 strikeouts over 35 innings, while also recording six saves.
His performance earned him a spot on the Foundation’s first‑team All‑America list and also secured him honorable‑mention recognition as a relief pitcher, underscoring his impact on the mound.
McElvain’s achievement marks the seventh straight year that the College Baseball Foundation has released an All‑America team, a streak that reflects the organization’s growing influence in collegiate baseball.
He joins three fellow Razorbacks — Hunter Dietz, Ryder Helfrick and Camden Kozeal — who were also honored as All‑Americans this postseason, highlighting the program’s depth.
Earlier in the year McElvain was recognized by the American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association, earning All‑America honors from those bodies as well.
His season featured several standout outings, including a seven‑strikeout effort in relief against Kentucky on May 15 and a shutout performance with six strikeouts versus Auburn on May 23, before closing the year with a final appearance against Kansas in the NCAA Lawrence Regional on May 31.
Coach Dave Van Horn praised McElvain’s composure and durability, noting that the pitcher’s ability to limit opposing hitters to a .163 average was a key factor in Arkansas’ late‑season surge.
The accolades come as the Razorbacks prepare for the next phase of competition, with the team looking to build on a promising campaign that has already produced multiple national recognitions.
The Foundation’s Legacy and Arkansas’ Postseason Impact
The College Baseball Foundation’s consistent selection of All‑America teams over the past seven years mirrors the increasing competitiveness of collegiate programs nationwide, and Arkansas’ representation underscores the program’s resurgence under Coach Van Horn.
