Auburn University’s men’s basketball program has added a new piece to its roster, Lithuanian guard Mantas Rubstavicius, whose reputation for scoring versatility precedes him.
Rubstavicius arrives after a season in which he averaged 7.8 points per game in the Lithuanian Basketball League and contributed 19.7 points in the 2022 FIBA U20 Championship silver‑medal run, including a 38‑point outburst against France in the semifinals.
Coach Steven Pearl’s Vision
Coach Steven Pearl highlighted the guard’s size, shooting range and basketball IQ, noting that Rubstavicius brings a selfless, winner’s mentality to a squad that struggled with frontcourt depth and three‑point production last year.
The Tigers missed the NCAA Tournament after a season marked by insufficient size and shooting, deficiencies the coaching staff hopes the new signing will immediately address.
Beyond the numbers, Rubstavicius is described as a versatile player capable of stretching the floor with his three‑point shot and finishing around the rim, traits that align with Auburn’s tactical goals for the upcoming campaign.
