A surprise comeback at 48
At 48 years old, Ryan Newman will step back into the Truck Series cockpit for the first time since 2018, driving the No. 25 Kaulig Racing Ram 1500 at North Wilkesboro Speedway on July 18. The appearance marks Newman's first national‑level race in several years and his debut with the team's free‑agent lineup.
Kaulig Racing's talent incubator
Kaulig Racing has built a reputation for scouting established names and pairing them with its developmental platform. The program has previously featured heavyweights such as Tony Stewart and Travis Pastrana, and it continues to attract a mix of former champions and seasoned competitors.
The team's roster also includes drivers like Clint Bowyer, Jamie McMurray, Parker Kligerman, Corey LaJoie, Ty Dillon and Carson Ferguson, each bringing a distinct pedigree to the series.
A career defined by milestones
Newman's résumé reads like a Hall of Fame highlight reel: 733 Cup starts, 18 victories and 51 pole positions. He captured the 2018 Daytona 500 and has been a fixture in the championship conversation, finishing as high as second in the 2014 standings.
His record also includes 65 starts in the O'Reilly NASCAR Xfinity Series with seven wins, though his Truck experience remains limited to just seven previous outings.
Newman's first Truck victory came in his very first attempt at Atlanta Motor Speedway in 2008, a feat that underscored his adaptability across disciplines.
Recent activity beyond the Trucks
While his Truck schedule is now set, Newman remains active in other NASCAR divisions, recently posting back‑to‑back top‑ten finishes in the Whelen Modified Tour. He also attempted to qualify for the 2021 Bristol Dirt Race but fell short of the cut.
