UC Santa Barbara Baseball to Join 2027 Surprise College Baseball Series

Gauchos to Face Oregon State, Vanderbilt and Nebraska in Arizona

Gauchos Set for 2027 Surprise Series

The UC Santa Barbara Baseball team is slated to make its debut in the 2027 Surprise College Baseball Series, a showcase event that will run from February 19 to 21 in Surprise, Arizona.

The Gauchos will meet three storied programs — Oregon State, Vanderbilt and Nebraska — in a three‑day slate that promises high‑level competition.

All games are scheduled for Surprise Stadium, a venue that has hosted professional spring training for the Texas Rangers and Kansas City Royals and has become a familiar backdrop for the Gauchos, who played there in 2023 and emerged with a victory over Minnesota.

Head Coach Andrew Checketts said he is eager to test his squad against some of the nation’s elite, noting that the matchup will give the team a chance to measure its progress against programs with deep tournament pedigrees.

Oregon State brings a legacy of nine straight NCAA Tournament appearances, while Vanderbilt’s recent run to the College World Series Final Four highlights its consistent excellence. Nebraska, fresh off a strong 2026 season that saw it reach the Big Ten Tournament semifinals, adds another layer of competitiveness.

The series is owned and operated by REV Entertainment, the official sports and entertainment arm of the Texas Rangers, which has overseen more than 140 games and attracted over 430,000 fans since the competition’s inception in 2021.

Beyond the on‑field storylines, the event underscores the growing popularity of college baseball in the Southwest and offers fans a rare opportunity to see West Coast and Midwestern powerhouses converge in Arizona’s desert climate.
