The Manhattan Jaspers secured a 6‑3 victory over Iona University on Saturday, completing their 2026 schedule with a win that underscored the team’s resilience and depth.
Vincent Samuel emerged as the offensive catalyst, finishing 3‑for‑5 with three RBIs, a home run, a double and three runs scored. He drove in the decisive run in the ninth inning, capping a performance that left the Jaspers’ lineup humming.
Ryan Lordier sparked the offense with a triple that plated a run in the first inning, while Hunter Sute’s seventh‑inning double brought Samuel home. Justin Best added a double and a run, and Payton Matthews contributed timely contact throughout the game.
On the mound, Braeden Romero delivered five solid innings, allowing just four hits and two earned runs, setting the stage for Garrett Theile, who shut down Iona in the ninth to preserve the lead. Hayden Jung‑Goldberg also chipped in with a sacrifice hit that drove in a run.
