Penn State’s Key Players Gear Up for Big Ten Media Days in Chicago

Linebacker Tony Rojas, guard Anthony Donkoh and transfer quarterback Rocco Becht headline the Nittany Lions’ roster revamp as the conference media event approaches.

The Big Ten Conference will convene its annual Football Media Days in Chicago this July, a three‑day gathering that brings together coaches, players and journalists from across the league.

Penn State will be represented by linebacker Tony Rojas, offensive lineman Anthony Donkoh and transfer quarterback Rocco Becht, each of whom brings a distinct storyline to the Nittany Lions’ lineup.

Rojas is coming off a torn ACL sustained last season, a setback that kept him out of spring practice, but he has been working diligently through rehabilitation and is expected to return stronger for his junior year.

Donkoh, who missed the spring drills due to an undisclosed injury, nevertheless appeared in every game of the 2025 season and is now fully healthy and ready to contribute on the line.

Becht arrives as a fourth‑year starter, one of the most experienced quarterbacks in college football, and his addition is a centerpiece of Penn State’s offensive plans.

Roster Overhaul and Transfer Influx

The team’s offseason has been marked by a massive roster turnover, with 55 new players added, including 40 transfers, reshaping the depth chart and injecting fresh talent across all positions.

Among those newcomers are 24 transfers who previously played under coach Matt Campbell at Iowa State, and the program has also drawn athletes from 16 other schools at various levels of competition.

Veteran safety Kevin Winston Jr., who faced a similar injury trajectory, has been a mentor to Rojas, offering guidance that has helped the linebacker stay focused during his recovery.

The media days will run over three consecutive days, each day spotlighting a different set of programs, allowing the Nittany Lions to showcase their revamped squad to a national audience.
